텅 빈 교정의 작은 정원에
나비들만 꽃을 희롱하고
한옆에 봉숭아가
다소곳이 눈길을 끄네

옛날엔 장독대에서
화려하지는 않았지만
어린 손가락을 기다리며
유혹의 눈길 보내지 않았던가

누나는 두부 모만 하고
반반하며 깨끗한 돌로
봉숭화의 잎을 따서
백반과 짓찧어선

동생들의 손가락에
얹어주고는 아주까리 잎으로
정성 들여 감싸주고
하얀 실로 동동 매어주며

멋진 꿈을 꾸고 나면
요술처럼 물든다며
뜨거운 여름날을 호기심으로

정성 들여 올려주신 봉선화 잘 보았습니다.

우리가 산다는 것은 다른 사람들의 눈을 의식해서 사는 것이란 생각이 듭니다.
만약, 적막강산에 나 혼자 살아간다면 굳이 고래등 같은 집과
번쩍이는 가구도 값비싼 옷과 자동차도 필요가 없을 것입니다.

또한, 즐겁고 보람돠게 산다는 것는 다른 사람에게 도움을 받고 도움을 주며
더불어 사는 삶이 행복하고 보람된 삶인것을…

중진님 가정에도 건강과 행운이 늘~함께하시고 하시는 일 대박 나이소!~~

어린시절 시골집 앞마당에 피여있던 봉선화 생각이 나서 한참을 보았습니다

봉선화는 어린시절입니다.

 

독일과 프랑스가 더 아름다울 텐데
사랑하는 사람과 양탄자를 타고
갠지스 지방으로 이상향을 쫓아
날아가고 싶었던 모양입니다.

밝은 보름달 밑에서
볼 수 있었던 꽃이 있었던가
잔잔하게 기억을 더듬어 보지만
출렁이는 현실이 모든 것을 지워버리네요.

멀리서 기적 소리가 들려오고
가끔 밤잠 설치게 멍멍이가 짖지마는
친구들은 집으로 들어가기 싫어
이슬이 내리고 모기가 뜯어도 좋다네요

이럴 때 알고 있는 원두막이라도 있으면
원이 없겠지만 시원한 길바닥에 주저앉아
권커니 잣커니 쓴 소주만을 들이키고
안주 없어도 행복하기만 하고 밤은 깊어가지요

 

촌에 살면 저런 장면이 밤마다 엮어질 수도 있지요.
그런 경험이 많이 있었답니다.

 

시를 읽다가 생각이 나서 엉뚱한 이야기를 늘어놓았네요.
멋진 8월이 되시기 바랍니다. 뉴욕도 비는 오지만 시원한

A Vermont retiree planning to “injure herself” tested the efficacy of homemade ricin poison on
other residents of Shelburne’s Wake Robin retirement community, federal investigators said.

Betty Miller, 70, made the poison herself and sprinkled it in other residents’ food and beverages,
apparently to see how it would work, the Burlington Free Press reports. Miller told health care
providers about her scheme on Tuesday, and law enforcement was called.

 

Ricin is a poison derived from castor beans, which are used to make castor oil.

(Miller apparently made her homemade version using castor beans on the retirement

community’s property, according to the Free Press.) The poison invades the body’s cells,

preventing them from creating the right proteins until they eventually die,

according to the CDC. Ricin poisoning can be fatal.

 

No residents reported symptoms of ricin poisoning — which, when ingested, can include vomiting,
diarrhea, dehydration, low blood pressure, seizures and organ failure, according to the CDC —
although the Free Press reports that the Vermont Department of Health became aware of one
person who may have been infected but was no longer ill.

 

“This was an isolated incident. The toxic substance was contained; no residents were evacuated.
The affected apartment was closed off and thoroughly searched,” Wake Robin President and CEO
Patrick McKee said in a statement. “We have received assurances from the VT Department of Health
and the FBI that no one’s health is at risk. The resident of the apartment in question is now involved
with the criminal justice system and will not be returning to Wake Robin.”

 

Miller appeared in court on Friday, the Free Press reports, where the judge made a reference to her
“mental health history.” She is currently in custody and will return to court on Wednesday.

She could face up to five years in prison if convicted.
