아무것도 모르는 채 시작된 그 날

신병훈련을 마치고 자대로 배치된 지 얼마 되지 않았던 그 날

아무런 기술이 없는 병사라 최전방으로 끌려가 

총알받이로 쓰인다는 유언비어에 몸서리치던 그 날

그날부터 완전무장을 하고 식사를 하고

불편한 취침을 하고

출동 준비를 위한 정신무장까지 갖추고

데프콘 3(Defense Readiness Condition 3), 예비 경계태세에서

데프콘 2, 공격 준비태세로 육이오사변 이후 처음으로 전환하면서

일촉즉발의 위기감이 조성되었는데

 

1976년 이후

43년이 흐른 지금

독재자와 대통령은 바뀌었어도

상황은 더욱 악화하여

주먹다짐이

민족 말살의 어두운 국면으로 접어들어 대치하고 있으니

불쌍한 민족이어라

한 많은 민족이어라

 

언젠가

한반도에

평화가 깃들어

자유를 만끽하고

진정한 민주주의가 펼쳐질 때

 

우리 한민족은 

남과 북의 경계 없이 

적대감 없이

무한한 광복을 누리는 그날이 되지 않을까?

 

판문점 도끼 만행 사건, 8·18 도끼 만행이라는 명칭이 함께 쓰인다.
1970~80년대에는 북괴 도끼 만행이라는 명칭이 대한민국의 언론에서 쓰이기도 하였다.

1498: Michelangelo is commissioned to carve the Pieta

Michelangelo is commissioned to make the Pieta for the French Cardinal Jean de Bilhères,
who was a representative in Rome. The sculpture is made for the cardinal's funeral monument.
The Pieta is the only sculpture Michelangelo ever signed.

피에타(Pietà, 1498-1499)는 미켈란젤로 부오나로티가 조각한 것으로 현재 바티칸 시국의
성 베드로 대성전에 보관되어 있는 르네상스 시대 조각 예술의 대표적인 명작품이다.
그의 많은 피에타 상 중에서 최초의 것으로, 당시 로마에 체류 중이었던 프랑스 추기경 장 드 빌레르의
의뢰로 만든 것이었다. 커다란 대리석을 깎아 만든 이 조각상은 장 드 빌레르 추기경의 장례 미사 기념비로
제작되었지만, 18세기에 지금의 성 베드로 대성전 입구 오른쪽에 있는 경당으로 위치가 옮겨졌다.
이 피에타상은 유일하게 미켈란젤로가 직접 자신의 이름을 새긴 작품이기도 하다.

 

이 유명한 작품은 십자가에 매달려 죽은 후에 어머니인 성모 마리아의 무릎에 놓여진 예수 그리스도의
시신을 묘사한 것이다. 원래 피에타를 주제로 한 예술 작품은 북방에서 유래한 것인데, 이 조각상이
제작될 당시만 해도 아직까지는 이탈리아가 아닌 프랑스에서 유행을 하였다. 미켈란젤로의 피에타
표현은 이전 작품들과는 달리 마리아의 얼굴이 매우 앳되게 표현되었다는 점이나, 예수의 몸에 비해
마리아의 신체 비율이 매우 거대하게 표현된 점, 그리고 사망한 후 사후 강직이 일어났어야하는
예수의 몸이 부드럽게 늘어져있는 모습으로 표현된 점 등 매우 독창적으로 제작되었다.

 

미켈란젤로의 피에타는 고전적인 아름다움을 강조한 르네상스 시대 당시의 이상과 자연주의의 균형을
이룸으로써 예술학적으로 매우 중요한 작품이다. 또한, 미켈란젤로의 피에타는 미켈란젤로가 생전에
만든 거대한 조각 작품 가운데 유일하게 완성을 끝마친 작품이기도 하다.

Cardinal Albino Luciani of Venice becomes the 264th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church.
The new pontiff took the name Pope John Paul I, honouring his two immediate predecessors,
John XXIII and Paul VI, as a sign of continuity. His pontificate lasted for around a month

1998: Delta III rocket explodes

A Delta III rocket explodes on its inaugural launch from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
The rocket was set to launch on August 24, but was put on hold because Hurricane Bonnie
