믿을 수가 없었다
벚나무가 제방 따라 심겨 있고
며칠 사이에 벚꽃이 만발하여
벌을 불러 모으고
꽃을 좋아하는 사람들이 물결을 따르기도 하고 거스르기도 한다
옛날과 같이 풍부한 수량은 보이지 않으나
고운 모래가 백조와 오리들이 쉬는데 적당하지 싶었다
공간은 좁아져
뚝방 안으로 경작지가 넓어 벌판 같은 느낌 또한 받았다
오래간만에 찾아온 사람의 눈이 휘둥그레지나
강태공은 밤낮을 가리지 않고 세월을 낚더라
누군가 그리움으로 찾아왔다면
무심하게 강물은 변화를 두려워하지 않고 있었다

1858: Minnesota becomes the 32nd state
Minnesota, known as 'land of 10,000 lakes', became the 32nd state of the Union. Claimed by the
French in the mid-1600s, the territory was acquired by the United States through the Treaty of Paris
in 1783 and the Louisiana Purchase in 1803.

1904: Salvador Dali is born
The surrealist painter, known for creations such as 'The Persistence of Memory,'
'Swans Reflecting Elephants' and 'The Temptation of St. Anthony,' was born in Figueres, Spain.

1927: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is founded
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was officially announced during a banquet at
the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, California. Soon after the committee was founded, articles of
incorporation were presented, and officers were elected. Douglas Fairbanks was named the president.

1949: Israel is admitted to the United Nations
With the adoption of the U.N. General Assembly Resolution 273, the State of Israel became the 59th
member of the United Nations. Since then, the country has actively involved itself in the work of
non-governmental organizations under the United Nations in fields such as aviation, immigration,
meteorology, and trade.

1960: Nazi Adolf Eichmann is arrested
German Nazi Colonel Adolf Eichmann, who played a crucial role in the deportation of Jews to concentration
camps, was arrested by Israeli soldiers in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Eichmann was eventually hanged in 1962.

1981: Bob Marley dies
Revolutionary Jamaican reggae singer Bob Marley died of cancer, seven months after he was
diagnosed with a cancerous growth on an old soccer injury on his big toe. He was only 36 years old.

1987: Heart transplant from a live donor
Surgeons at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland successfully transplanted the heart and lungs into
a cystic fibrosis patient. His heart was then transplanted into another patient who was dying of heart failure.

1996: Valujet Flight 592 crash
Atlanta-bound Valujet Flight 592 caught fire after takeoff from Miami airport and went
nose-down into marshy waters of Florida Everglades. All 110 people on board died in the crash.

1997: Supercomputer defeats Garry
In a stunning man versus machine showdown, IBM’s 'Deep Blue' computer demolished world chess
champion, Garry Kasparov, in a six-game chess match in New York City, New York. Kasparov lost
two games to one, with three draws. In the sixth and final game, Deep Blue won after only 19 moves
and Kasparov resigned the game, reportedly stating, “I lost my fighting spirit.”

2000: India's 1 billionth citizen is born
India's population reached one billion with the birth of a baby girl named Astha Arora,
who was born at a hospital in Delhi.

2010: Cameron becomes Britain’s prime minister
Conservative party leader David Cameron, 43, became Britain’s prime minister as Queen Elizabeth II
invited Cameron to take over after Gordon Brown stepped down ending 13 years of labor government.
He formed a coalition government with the liberal democrats.
